exhibition: “Living Culture of three Writing Systems of the Georgian Alphabet” at the National Museum of Ethiopia
On December 4, 2015, The Embassy of Georgia to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia organized an exhibition: “Living Culture of three Writing Systems of the Georgian Alphabet” at the National Museum of Ethiopia.
The opening was attended by the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Addis Ababa, representatives of the Ethiopian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Culture, of the African Union, journalists and artist.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia Vakhtang Jaoshvili and the head of the Museum Mrs. Mamitu Yelma addressed the audience.
In his speech, the ambassador emphasized the unique character and distinguished place of the Georgian language and alphabet in European and world cultural heritage. It was also noted that the Georgian alphabet has been submitted to UNESCO for consideration as a part of the world’s “intangible cultural heritage”.
During the exhibition guests had also had the chance to watch advertisement clips about Georgia.
The event provoked great interest among the audience, taking into consideration the number of questions asked.
The exhibition was followed by a reception, where Georgian wine was served.
